No. 29. Kanheri Buddhist cave inscription. Prakrit.

The inscription of two lines is on the inner wall of the verandah of Cave No. 99 and on the left side of a grated window. It measures 97 cm. x 26 cm. Letters 3 cm. x 8 cm. Characters : Brаhmи, 200 A.D. Language: Prakrit. Orthography: The letters are deeply cut, distinct and perfect. At the starting point of the inscription, there are two vertical strokes. The medial 'i' in the word Mitabhuti is written in ornamental style. (ShG)
