No. 39. Kanheri Buddhist cave inscription. Prakrit.

The inscription is on the back of recess over the tank on the left hand of the entrance of Cave No. 66. It is faintly cut. It is indistinct and completely illegible. It measures 1.52 m. x 48 cm. Letters 7 cm. x 3 cm. Characters: Brаhmи, 2nd Century A.D. Language: Prakrit. Orthography: The inscription is fragmentary and does not call for any remark. (ShG)
