No. 75. (R, Bhatt.: Saмvat 500....), Lalitpur, Nabahil Stele.
| A slab of stone originally
belonging to Nabahil, Patan is now deposited in the National Museum. Date symbols are
missing except the symbol for 500. The inscribed part is 37 cm long and 30 cm wide. The
inscription bears a date of the old era but the charter is issued by Amщuvarmа.
Щivadeva's name disappears. The inscription should be placed before the Bungmati charter
in chronological order. The witness is Mahаsаmanta Bhogavarma. One Bhoga-varma Gomi
figures as witness in the two Bhadgaon charters of Щivadeva. Could they be identified as
one person? Perhaps Bhogavarma Gomi was a follower of Amщuvarmа and was promoted to the
rank of Mahаsаmanta at the date of the Na-bahil inscription. (R). Щrи-Mahаsаmanta Aмщuvarman from the palace of Kailаsakутa, dutaka - Mahаsаmanta Bhogavarmman; prasаdaх kрta. Records the grant of Mиrmelи (?) to the inhabitants of . . кkhula . . (grаma), which property cannot be injured, for the protection of Щaкkara-Nаrаyaнa (temple). The matter of grant was a emancipation from the paщcima-adhikaraнa to this village. |
