Notes

L. 1. Hira Lal has ом svasti [|*], expressed by a symbol.
L. 2. HL in text:dhоta, read -dhauta- (in notes). [It it possible that the sign read as а here and in Kощika-, l. 9, should be read as au. The two mаtrаs are separated by an interval, which is not the case where о is intended. This remark also applies to the other plates of the king.-S. K.]
L. 3. The medial i, which was first engraved by oversight, was later cancelled (AMS). Hira Lal: -pittri-, in notes - Read -pitр-.
L. 4. Sandhi has not been observed here as well as at several other places (AMS).
L. 8. Read -rаjakulaiх (instead rоjakulaiх).; =аtmanaщ= (instead аtmanaмщ). (HL) The sign of visarga is rather unusual, consisting as it does of a somewhat irregular square above and a short horizontal stroke below. Elsewhere in this record, as in several others, it is indicated by a couple of horizontal strokes one above the other. Sandhi has not been observed here (AMS).
L. 9. Read Kauщika- (HL). (For sagоtra) Oversight the subscript r is formed like medial р (AMS).
L. 10. The mark of punctuation, which is left out unnoticed by Hira Lal, is superfluous. (AMS)
L. 11. HL has Щaкkarasvаminа[м*].
L. 14. Metre Vasantatilaka.
L. 15. HL has rанамх , in notes : Read purана. Hira Lal takes the two horizontal strokes following nам as standing for visarga. It would, however, be more reasonable to regard them as a mark of punctuation. It may be noted that in the Щarabhapurиya records we often come across a may punctuation mark after the word purана. It is, however, unnecessary.
L. 18. Metre Indravajra. The remaining portion of the verse is; -щ-cha gаvaх | dattаs=trayas=tеna bhavanti lоkа yaх kагchanaм gам cha mahим cha dadyаt ||.
(AMS) Hira Lal puts the mark of punctuation within a round bracket, but il is quite clear in the facsimile accompanying his paper. It is, however, superfluous. The remaining portion of this stanza, some other imprecatory and benedictive verses, the date and the name of the engraver were inscribed on the third plate which is not traceable.
