L.12 Bоdhi-chitt-оtpаda is the menial disposition of one whose chief aim is enlightenment. This is one of the three kuщala-mуlas or roots of virtues, the other two being ащaya-viщuddhi and ahaкkаra-mamakаra-parityаga. See Dharma., p. 4, sect. XV. (SN).

Ayaм Bhagavаn=aparimita-kаlаbhyаsаt =sаtmиbуt-оpachita-puнya-karma (Jаtaka, p. 6); puнya-jгаna-saмbhаra : the puнya (merit) and jгаna (wisdom) are the two sambhаras or equipments to attain freedom from misery. See, Dharma., p. 29, sect. CXVII; -bhаra- after this letter, probably cha originally written seems to have been erased (SN).
L.17 а-pratihatаn-аvaraнa-sakala-jгеya-[jга]nа- : the two аvaraнas or faults of knowledge are kleщa-jгey-аvaraнas. See Dharma, p. 28, sect. CXV (SN).
L.18 =abhiprapannaм nirvviд- : probably nirdviд-virаga- is the intended reading; -virаga-щиla- for three kinds of щиlas or moral principles viz. Vol. III, p. 219; -dhyаna- the Dharma. enumerates (p. 15, sect. LXXII; p. 28, sect. CIX) the four stages and three kinds of dhyаna or meditation; samаdhi means the intense self-contemplation - for details of four-fold division of it, see ibid., p. 23; -samаpatty : sect. CI; p. 32, sect. CXXXVI; Childers, Dict. of the Pali Language, s.v.; samаpatti means the attainment (of all the stages of the samаdhi). The PED enumerates eight and nine samаpattis; аdibhi[r*]=guнa-ganair - here the instrumental gaнaiх is hetau or saha-yоgе tрtиyа; anuttaraм - in the Budddist works the expression anuttaram puнyakшetram unsurpassed field of merit is often used as an epithet of the Saмgha, because of the belief that anything sown on (i.e., given to) it is reaped back in abundance by the benefactor; puнyakшеtraм triyаna-yаyinaм : the three yаnas or vehicles intended are the щrаvaka-Pratyekabuddha-Mahаyаnas. See Dharma.,p. I, sect. ll; the Saddharmapuндarиka (Trans, by Kern, SEE, XXI), pp. 34-35 (SN).
L.20 =aupadhikaг= : as in the Bud. hist works, here too aupadhika means 'material things'. Cf. e.g. Paгchabhiх kаraнaiх Buddhа Bhagavanta upadhau tiштhanti; etc. Divyаvadаna, p. 542, the Pаli equivalent of the word is opadhika and it is taken to mean 'forming a substratum for re-birth (with reference to puггa or merit)'. See PED. s.v.; puнya-kriyа-vastv= : though the puнyakriyа-vastu (i.e., a token or object of meritorious action) is usually stated to be of three kinds, viz., Dаna-Sиla-Bhаvanа-maya-puнyas, by authorities like the Dиghanikаya (Vol. III, p. 288. sect. XXXVIII), the Mahаvyutpatti (Sakaki Ed. 1916, entries 1699-1704) adds aupadhika and guнya also to the above list.
