No. 12. Kanheri Buddhist tank inscription. Prakrit. Buhler - pali, letters - Andhra type of time Gotamiputra Satakarni or Pulumavi.

The inscription is above the tank to the left hand end of Cave No.7. It is deeply cut and distinct. There is swastika at the beginning of the inscription. It measures 45 cm. x 70 cm. Letters 11 cm. x 9 cm. Characters: Brаhmи, early 2nd century A.D. Language: Prakrit. Orthography : The medial 'u' is shown by a little curve in the word 'svаmikupаsaka' in line No.2. (ShG)
