No. 31. Kanheri Buddhist cave inscription. Prakrit.

The inscription is in cave No. 98. It is of one line on the wall of the verandah of the cave and above a small grated window. It measures 1.70 m. x 6 cm. Letters 9 cm. x 8 cm. Characters : Brаhmи, 200 A.D. Language: Prakrit. Orthography: The letters though not deeply cut are perfect. The small letters 'Poдhi cha' in the second line as an addition and are inserted after the writing of the first line. (ShG)
