Notes
_________________________
L. 1. nearly 4 letters cannot be restored, as the ephitet of king ending with -dhara. (Mah.)
L. 2. Faint traces of the letters suggest the reading dhamaмbala. There are two Telugu-Kannada letters at the end of stk, but they are late and have nothing to do with the inscription (Mah).
L. 3. The term Kатунa can be compared with Kattuнa in label inscr. in the Tiruchirrapaллi cave (ARE, 1937-1938, nr.140, ibid., part II, 78 and plate), JIH, XXXVIII, part.2, 409-412 (Mahalingam's paper), South indian paleography, app. I, p.303. Damaged letters may be siri. (Mah)
L. 4. The word bhaттаraka was probably prefixed to the name of deity in the devakula or temple. Kurttaka=Pаli kuttaka (Mah).
