L. 1. Traces of the letters still remain (for siddhaм). It is generally taken, that the Kагcиpura
from where the charter was issued, was the same as present Kагcиpuram in the Chingleput
district,Tamilnadu. But T.G. Aravamudan suggests that Kагcиpura mentioned in Pallava
records has to be sought for in the Nellore-Guntur region, probably in and around Cinna
and Pedda-Ganjam on the Madras-Vijayawada railway (See TASSI). Ma which has peculiar form
and consists of an upper curve and of loop that starts from its upper right corner and
reaches below the line. (Mah)
L. 2. Sa has two equal curves one below the other but not connected with it; TNS read: pаlavаnам.
(Mah)
L. 5. Ja has an angle and a circle (Mah).
L. 6. Read ca instead ya. (Mah).
L. 9. Read aмdhаpathиya (Mah). SI – aмdhаpathиya. back
L. 10. Omit amhehi (Mah).
L. 13. SI (for alona) it possibly indicates, that audbhijja salt prepared from plantain
and cocoanut trees in some parts of Bengal even to day.
L. 14. (for araтha) TNS: is it tha ?; Hultsch read this balivadaм. For a detailed
discussion on the exemptions, see Suc.Sat., 186 ff; also 410, n.1. (Mah)
L. 20. TNS reads -petha ca as vethaca. (Mah)
L. 22. Jjа is read by Hultsch and Buhler instead jva; but it looks exactly like the
ordinary form of jo. The scribe at first left out kаrаpejjа and engraved vаta (of vаtasa)
but eventually the two aksharas were struck out. (Mah)
L. 25. 20 - obviously mistake of Mahalingam (DNL); The Аndhra-Drаviдa-Karнатaka
region very probably reckoned the amаnta (month starting from Щukla pratipad and ending
with the amаvаsya). (Mah, SI., 436, n.4).
